Doha, Qatar: Al Adaam Flag Hoisted to Mark the Start of National Day Celebrations at Darb Al Saai

The iconic Qatari flag, Al Adaam, was proudly raised yesterday at Darb Al Saai’s main square, signaling the commencement of cultural and heritage festivities dedicated to celebrating Qatar’s National Day. The event attracted a large gathering of citizens and residents who came together to embrace the vibrant atmosphere of Qatari culture and tradition.

Inauguration of Qatar National Day 2024 Activities

H.E. Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Culture, officially launched the National Day 2024 events, which run from December 10 to December 18 at Darb Al Saai in Umm Salal. This annual celebration, observed on December 18, showcases the country’s heritage and national pride through a series of immersive activities organized by the Ministry of Culture.

Prominent figures, including H.E. Mohammed bin Ali Al Manna, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, along with other ministers, ambassadors, and officials, attended the opening ceremony. The dignitaries toured various events and installations that highlighted the essence of Qatari heritage.

This year’s Darb Al Saai celebrations feature an extensive lineup of cultural and heritage events across open spaces and dedicated corners. With 15 main attractions and over 100 individual activities, the venue offers a dynamic environment that immerses visitors in the richness of Qatari culture.

Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Culture, emphasized the significance of Darb Al Saai in fostering national identity and values. He stated that these celebrations reflect loyalty to the nation and serve as a bridge between generations, connecting them to Qatar’s historical roots.

The 2024 Darb Al Saai program features a variety of attractions, including:

  • Al Shaqab: Highlighting Qatar’s equestrian legacy.
  • Sana Qatar: A groundbreaking digital art exhibition featuring advanced display technology.

Visitors can also enjoy the Puppet Theater, Qatari Note Museum, and Interactive Games Area, among other attractions. Adding to the festive spirit, a live cooking competition, themed “Qatari Flavour,” celebrates the nation’s culinary heritage. With prizes ranging from QR80,000 to QR40,000, the competition highlights Qatar’s gastronomic identity.
